Rank Name Pos Location Stars Ht Wt School
Saul AguileraP
Manassas, VAOsbourn Park

Coach Rodney Hodgson told us "Saul is an outstanding student athlete. On the bump he works fast and throws strikes. He looked like a senior not a freshman this past season. Great composure!"

Josh BarrickINF
Lynchburg, VALiberty Christian Academy

Mike Morris, LCA coach told us "As a freshman last year I believe that Barrick was as good or better defensively than any other short stop in the state. Without question he is the best shortstop I have ever coached. I know you know his stats but for a freshman to hit in the 3 hole and put up the type of numbers he did last season was amazing."

Blake BivensP
Sutherlin, VAGeorge Washington

Coach Wayne Shelton said "Blake is an outstanding young man. He is talented and works extremely hard. He excels in the classroom. Only a sophomore, the best player I have coached."

Derek CaseyP
Mechanicville, VAHanover

Cardinals coach Rich Graham told us "Derek has done nothing but impress every coach who gets to see him compete. As a freshman he was a very reliable varsity arm and I knew that he was the type of kid we wanted to lock in on for the Cardinals. We are fortunate to have Derek as one of our main staples for our Cardinal pitching staff for the next 2 years and I can't wait to see how high his ceiling is. He has turned the heads of ACC programs already and he still has so much room to grow and improve that I can't even imagine what opportunities he is going to open up for himself over the next 24 months. It's not just his physical talent that impresses us but his make-up and composure are at a very high level already - far beyond his years."

Zach ClintonINF
Forest, VALiberty Christian Academy

Another prospect from LCA, Coach Mike Morris said: "The best word I can use for Zach Clinton is consistent. He went through his entire freshman season and committed only 1 error. A great accomplishment for a 2nd baseman. Although Zach is primarily a 2nd baseman he can play all positions extremely well. I literally have no reservations about putting Zach in any defensive situation. Zach is clutch! If the game is on the line I want Zach at bat. He thrives in those type of situations. He is a great hitter with men in scoring position. Zach hit mostly in the 2 hole for use last season."

Charlie Cody3B
Chesapeake, VAGreat Bridge

Cane's Coach Jeff Petty said of Cody "Charlie Cody has a lot of natural ability. I have always liked his swing. He gets the barrel thru the zone, and does so with authority. Cody is another kid who can really run. Cody has been clocked as low as 6.7, and has a shot to get faster. Very athletic kid, and can be a tough out. Cody is an outstanding student as well."

Trevor DentonINF
Mechanicsville, VAHanover

Braves coach Rusty Stadler told us "Trevor currently plays on our Richmond Braves National Team (2014). I believe he projects as an elite D-1 player as both a pitcher and position player. Trevor will be recruited as a weekend starter. He currently sits at 86-88 with his fastball and has added a plus curveball to his mix. He is one of the most competitive kids I have coached and I love his bulldog demeanor on the mound. Trevor really matured this past Spring while playing and contributing to his Hanover High School team."

Kyle FarkasP
Richmond, VADouglas Freeman

Tommy Mayers Richmond Braves National Director told us "Kyle Is probably the most competitive player I have seen. Mentally focused. Will win games for you. Kyle is one the best centerfielders in Virginia for his age group- reads the ball off the bat better than anyone. He will win games for you."

Jack GerstenmaierINF
Richmond, VADouglas Freeman

Jeff Petty, Director of the Canes program, told us the following about Jack Gerstenmaier: "He has one of the most consistent bats in the state, and he can do one thing that you cant teach, and that is RUN. He has ran the 60 as low as 6.7 before. Good defender, but with his athleticism he is going to have lots of options in where he can end up positionally. Outstanding kid, and is another one who just loves to play, and loves to play hard."

Ryan HallINF
Mosley, VACosby

We asked Cosby coach Tim Lowry to tell us about Hall and he responded "Hard working young man with some pop in his bat. He can hit to all fields. We look forward to working with Ryan in the future. He will be following the footsteps of many great players who have come through Cosby in their short existence."

Evan HanifeeINF
Bridgewater, VATurner Ashby

Evan plays for his father Sean Hanifee at Turner Ashby. The younger Hanifee had an outstanding freshman seasaon, and was named First team all-district and led TA in hitting with a .364 average while batting third in the order. He led the team in runs scored (19), RBI with 15, 3 triples and 5 doubles. He committed only 2 errors on the season splitting time between second base and shortstop.

Marc Jimenez3B
Manassas, VAOsbourn Park

One coach told us of Jimenez "Very athletic, tall, lean but strong, sub-7.0 runner, big time power. In my opinion one of the top arms in his class in Virginia. Hard to believe he's just a sophomore."

Cullen LargeINF
Midlothian, VAJames River

One coach told us "Highly competitive. Gamer. Extremely smart. Cullen sees the ball extraordinarily well and is very athletic, making big plays. He will win games for you. Performs well under pressure. Unselfish, hardworking."

Nate MathesonPHampton, VAKecoughtan6'2"185list
Kyle McPhersonINF
Chesapeake, VAWestern Branch

Kyle is a 2014 SS/2B who has the potential to be a highly recruited Division One player. He has above average speed and arm strength as a shortstop. Kyle has the ability to hit the ball with power to all fields. Kyle has the potential to be in the class of elite infielders that have come out of the Tidewater area.

Jason MorganP
Fredericksburg, VAChancellor

Chancellor coach J.P. Gibbons told us "Jason has done nothing but impress our coaching staff with his attention to detail, competitiveness, and physical conditioning. On the mound, he's a bulldog. He works consistently and analyzes each batter he faces. His mental attitude and concentration are superb. He has tremendous composure and is a relentless competitor. He excels in the classroom and he's only a sophomore! We are really fortunate to have him and we are looking forward to having him as the staple of our rotation for the next three years."

Jack OwensINF
Burke, VALake Braddock

Lake Braddock coach Jody Rutherford on Owens "Jack is a dynamic player because of the multiple tools he brings to the ballfield. He is a very good shortstop with a plus arm. Offensively he was inserted into our lineup the third game of the year as a freshman. He promptly delivered a two hit two RBI performance and remained in the lineup for the remainder of the season. On top of this he is an excellent baserunner with above average speed and a threat to take a base any time."

Ian PezzellaINF
Virginia Beach, VAKempsville

Kempsville coach John Cinnamon said "Ian is a very self motivated young man. He understands that hard work is the only way that he can get to where he wants to go. Ian is one of those types of players that has traits that can not be taught but they have naturally. He proved as a freshman last year that he can play at a high level, batting over .400 and striking out only twice all year. He is mature beyond his years both in school and on the field. In the classroom he makes it easy to sell his skills to college’s because of his great academic record and his off the field behavior. Ian has the potential to play at a very high level of college baseball in the future but he still has 3 years of high school baseball left and a lot growth still in front of him. And knowing what he can achieve is what pushes him even harder."

Hunter TaylorCOnley, VANandua5'11"190list
Hunter WilliamsP
Midlothian, VACosby

Canes Coach Jeff Petty told us "Hunter Williams has already put himself in an elite class not only in the state of Virginia, but in the country in his class, but Hunter has a chance to be "real" special. I see a kid that really loves to play baseball, and is hungry to get better, but the key is he really wants to play. If we told him to meet us in the Wal-Mart parking lot for a game of stick ball he would be the first one there, and the last one to leave. With his ability is his eagerness to play the game, and get better I have thrown out comparisons to a former Canes player Jake Cave. He has a ways to go, but when Jake was his age there were a lot of similarities."
