Scouting Report on Armando Allenby Mike Farrell - 06/19/2006
Allen plays bigger than his size, has blazing straight-ahead speed and good vision. He hits the hole hard and keeps a low center of gravity allowing him to bounce off tackles. Allen has the speed to score from anywhere on the field and has a good up field burst after a few strides. He reaches top speed quickly and has deceptive strength for his size. Allen has strong leg drive and can gain extra yardage after contact. His low center of gravity and good pad level allows him to deliver a blow when he lowers his head and avoid taking big shots. Allen doesn’t look as fast as others due to the high level of competition he plays, but he has homerun speed. He’s very good at keeping his feet moving and his instincts allow him to find cutback lanes easily. Allen needs to get a bit lower, dance less at the line of scrimmage and finish his runs more consistently. He is likely a change-of-pace back early in college but has the strength and work ethic to be an every-down back eventually. Allen could also slot out with his soft hands and good speed. He has good hand-eye coordination in the passing game and shows some downfield receiving skills.
