On the Hoof: Would be considered a huge linebacker with a massive upper body. His legs are athletic and lean like a basketball player. Has the frame that will grow into a linebacker and will physically remind fans of Jevon Kearse.
Needs Improvement: If he ends up as a defensive end, he will need to work on lower pad level at the point of attack and add some muscle mass to his lower body. As a linebacker, more knee bend will help him explode into ball carriers.
Most Impressive: He covers a lot of ground for a huge linebacker, and he does a nice job of wrapping up while tackling. Jones is also a superior pass rusher and can wreak havoc in the backfield on a consistent basis.
Conclusion: There is no question that he has a better than 50-50 chance of being an impact freshman wherever he ends up. Jones will excel on coverage teams and instantly improve any defense because of his pass-rushing prowess. Barring a serious injury, he should end up having a great college career and beyond.
