The battle between two teams looking to use the early season to build an identity, the Canyon Springs Pioneers looked as though they are closer to their goals and ran away with last Friday's game. Coached by AFL Hall of Famer Hunkie Cooper, Pioneers have come a long ways in four games breaking in a team featuring a roster where 80% of the player are seeing time on varsity for the first time ever. For Chaparral, they are a historical school and a team transitioning from recent struggles on as well as off the field with a new staff. Featuring the schools largest roster in recent years, the school is looking get back to where it was a decade ago when it produced three Pac 10 recruits and stood out academically.
