On the Hoof: Reed is very tall and long. He has ideal arm length for a defensive end, and has a frame that can gain another 25 pounds. His build is like a slightly leaner Michael Brockers, a freshman at LSU.
Needs Improvement: He has to stay lower at the point of attack and use his long arms to keep offensive linemen off of his body. Would like to see him improve his lateral movement and add about 20 pounds of muscle mass.
Most Impressive: Has the ideal height, arm length and growth potential to be a huge strongside defensive end. Reed is also athletic enough and has soft enough hands to be recruited as a tight end. Versatility is the key to success.
Conclusion: Reed will most likely redshirt while he gains some needed lower body strength and hones his pass-rushing techniques. He could end up being a difference-maker and a two-year starter.
