Cal State Northridge made a splash when it hired longtime Fresno State assistant Matt Curtis as its new head coach. Now the Matadors finally have a complete coaching staff after hiring Shaun Larkin as assistant coach.

Larkin is a former second baseman for the Matadors and started on the CSN team that won the 2002 Big West title.

Following a professional baseball career, Larkin spent two seasons helping the Indians organization in management and player development. He also spent time as a coach for a professional winter ball team in Nicaragua before finding himself back in Southern California with a stint at Newport Harbor High School.

Larkin coached at Orange Coast College last season.

He'll work primarily with hitters and infielders and assistant Curtis with recruiting and fundraising.

His addition to the program completes the full-time staff, which includes Curtis and Tim Leary, who was hired as pitching coach last week.
