Scouting Report on Ben Martinby Mike Farrell - 06/19/2006
Martin is tall and skinny but runs very well and has an extra gear when the quarterback is in sight. His tall frame makes him disruptive in the passing game and he plays off blocks well despite giving up weight. Martin isn’t a pure outside rusher, he prefers to work off contact and gets his hands out in front well. He is quick enough to run down plays from behind and get back in on a running play even if he guessed wrong off the snap. He needs to work on being more explosive off the ball, but that could come with added lower body strength. Still a bit raw and needs to be more aggressive, but plays the run and pass equally well which is a rarity for a tall, lanky rush end. Has tremendous upside.
