Scouting Report on Caleb Kingby Mike Farrell - 06/19/2006
King is an ankle-breaker with his tremendous start-stop and cutting ability. He’s physical enough to make a living between the tackles, but his speed allows him to bounce things outside and be effective on sweeps. He could also be utilized in the passing game with his ability to get up field quickly. King has excellent vision and doesn’t try to bounce everything outside when the more effective route is in traffic. King hits the line of scrimmage very quickly and makes sharp, precise cuts with his quick feet. He needs to be more patient at times and set up his blocks and King can sometimes outrun his blockers. King is versatile enough to be used in many ways as a tailback or slot receiver and his speed can create many mismatches in coverage. He isn’t the biggest back, but he has the frame to carry 200 pounds and will get stronger. He’s an every-down back for sure at the next level despite limited size.
