Some people like Floyd Mayweather Jr. Some don't. But it seems that everyone is watching him.

The undefeated WBC welterweight champion set a pay-per-view record on May 5, when his win over Oscar De La Hoya drew an estimated 2.5 million buys.

My Yahoo! Sports colleague, Kevin Iole, reports that Mayweather's Dec. 8 match with fellow unbeaten Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is projected to draw 1.5 million buys. If so, Mayweather will become the first boxer to draw four million pay-per-view buys in history.

If Mayweather sets the all-time mark in the same year that Miguel Cotto and Kelly Pavlik emerged as top-tier stars, isn't it time to put to rest the notion that the sport of boxing is on its way out?

Tell us what you think about Floyd, his match with Hatton, and the state of boxing in general right here.
