On the Hoof: The first person I think of physically is Jake Heaps. Walsh is a bit more muscular in the lower body and looks like he has done a few arm curls in his life. His shoulders are not huge and he has very little bad body weight.
Needs Improvement: He could add about 15 to 20 pounds of muscle mass, making him more dangerous as a runner while improving durability. Sometimes he has a tendency to overthrow, causing the ball to wobble as it leaves his hands. Walsh also needs to be more consistent with his weight transfer by setting his feet and squaring his shoulders up. This will improve accuracy and arm strength.
Most Impressive: He throws well on the run and is truly a throw-first, run-second guy. Walsh is athletic enough to cause defenses headaches by making unscripted yards with his feet. Unlike most athletic quarterbacks, he already is proficient at taking snaps under center. He is also very humble and the son of a head coach at a successful high school program.
Conclusion: Look for him to redshirt as he learns the complexities of the college game and adds needed muscle mass. He has a chance to be a multiple-year starter and a real leader at the next level.
