Scouting Report on Donovan Warren

by Mike Farrell - 06/19/2006
Warren is a skinny cornerback but plays physical and has excellent speed. Instinctually he’s excellent, reading the receiver well to see if the ball is coming his way and peeling off as soon as he senses it’s not. He likes to play close to the line of scrimmage and dares wideouts to try to outrun him down the sideline by turning his hips and taking away the inside. When he plays straight up without inside help, he’s smooth in his backpedal, usually gets a good bump and keeps his hips open until the last moment. He closes on the ball well although he plays more of a safety first style when the ball is in the air. In run support he’s adequate although he needs to get much stronger and tackler lower.
