On the Hoof: Has fairly wide shoulders for his size with a thin waist and he has room to add another 10 to 15 pounds. His build is similar to Arizona State redshirt freshman Osahon Irabor.
Needs Improvement: Adding size and strength will help him become more effective versus the run and against big, physical receivers. Countess must be consistent by staying low in his backpedal so he can come out of it with balance and speed.
Most Impressive: An ultra-competitive on-the-field performer who doesn't mind getting physical. He has hips on a swivel and enough recovery speed to stay with most receivers. He is a classic overachiever that should outperform and outwork his opponents.
Conclusion: Corner is the most difficult defensive position to have an early impact. Look for a redshirt season followed by a season of special teams and nickel/dime packages. Countess should become a very good two-year starter.
