The Eastern Region Offensive Player of the Year threw for 3,167 yards and 38 touchdowns (with only 4 interceptions) this season in leading the top-ranked Oscar Smith Tigers to the Division Six state championship. Through his first three years of high school football, Sims has thrown for 7,597 yards and will likely graduate as the all-time leading passer in VHSL history, barring injury. Sims shines brightest when on the grandest stages as he set state playoff game records for completions (26) and yards (480) in a 2007 state semifinal game against Westfield and threw for 334 yards and a state record six touchdowns in the 2008 state final against Osbourn. The prototypical pocket passer had early offers from Alabama, Clemson, Boston College, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee among others before choosing the Crimson Tide!

One of the most athletic and explosive players in the state (and possibly the East Coast) on the defensive line, McCray will collect dozens of offers over the course of 2009 as he has been on the radar for college coaches who have been attending Brookville games to watch his cousin, five-star 2009 prospect, Logan Thomas, a Virginia Tech commit. In 2008, he helped lead the Brookville Bees to a 13-1 mark and an appearance in the Division 3 state championship game. McCray has decided to join Logan Thomas in Blacksburg!

Williams was one of the top defensive players in the Eastern Region as he helped lead the Lake Taylor Titans to a 12-1 season which ended in the regional championship game. On the year, he notched 78 tackles, 14 sacks, 12 hurries and three forced fumbles. Though he often lines up at defensive end for Coach Hank Sawyer, he projects as a college safety or linebacker and holds as many as fifteen offers including ones from Louisville, North Carolina, N.C. State, Penn State, Virginia, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. On the offensive side of the ball, Williams caught 32 passes for 580 yards and scored four touchdowns in being named a first team All-Eastern Region wide receiver. Claiming that he will want to stay relatively close to home, his recruiting battle could come down to ACC schools, Penn State and West Virginia.

Hailes played a key role for an Oscar Smith defense that dominated competition all season as he recorded 81 tackles, 21 for loss and 9 sacks including a sack and two tackles for loss in the Tigers 54-24 Division Six state championship game victory. Oscar Smith head coach Rich Morgan describes Hailes as "an unstoppable and unblockable kid. He's the best defensive lineman in the state." He is sitting on offers from Boston College, Tennessee and West Virginia but is getting contacted from nearly every school in the ACC, SEC and Big East as he is a prototypical interior lineman. Known for his aggressive play and competitive attitude, Hailes will end up with a pile of offers from schools up and down the Eastern half of the United States.

Spain burst onto the recruiting scene as a junior at Petersburg and it is easy to see why. At 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds he is a hard prospect to miss. After a junior season which brought mixed reviews, Spain cemented his standing as a top prospect with performances during the spring combine season. West Virginia was tops on his list and Spain was quick to give Mountaineer asssitant Chris Beatty a commitment. Besides size, Petersburg coach Mike Scott says that Spain will bring other benefits to the West Virginia program. "He is one of the leaders of my team. He really helps bring the young guys along because he's been starting since he was a freshman and he's matured a lot in the past year or so. The teachers here wonder if he is the same kid." That maturity paid off in a big way last Fall when Quinton recorded a 3.0 grade point average.
