Scouting Report on Marshall Jones

by Mike Farrell - 06/19/2006
Jones is a tremendous athlete with track speed and a good frame. His best position in college will likely be at safety because he reads the play well, closes fast and has the speed to turn and run with most wideouts. Jones changes direction well and runs down plays. He shows quick reaction time and is a sure tackle, often side-stepping bigger blockers to dive at a runner’s legs. His ball skills are very good and he’s dangerous whenever he has the ball in his hands. He could also play offense in college as a speed receiver. Jones works on his defensive game in practice against the country’s best quarterback, teammate Jimmy Clausen.

Pac-10 Signing Day dream team2/8/2007 Rivals.com Football Recruiting

Just imagine the nightmares defensive coordinators would have if Joe McKnight played in the same backfield with Jahvid Best. The good news for Pac-10 coaches is that isn't a possibility. However, Rivals.com would select that backfield in its version of a Signing Day "Dream Team" for players that signed with Pac-10 schools. Check out the entire squad.
