Scouting Report on Demetrius Wright

How we scouted: Film footage, In-person visits, Game setting, Campby Barry Every - 11/3/2009
  • SpeedDivision I Player
  • SizeBlue Chip
  • StrengthBlue Chip
  • AgilityDivision I Player
  • Ball SkillsBlue Chip
On the Hoof: Very lean and muscular body structure. He is built like a big, tall, lean running back similar to fellow Californian and Rivals250 member Deonte Cooper.
Needs Improvement: Wright is a tad stiff in the hips, which hurts his ability to turn and run with receivers. He also needs to work on keeping his balance on the balls of his feet while in his backpedal.
Most Impressive: Has excellent size, strength and ball skills. Wright is not afraid of contact regardless of the side of the ball he is playing. He is hard to tackle as a running back because he keeps his feet moving, and he is a powerful striker on the defensive side of the ball.
Conclusion: He should have an early impact on special teams because he has the size and speed to play on all coverage teams. Look for him to be tested at strong safety first in order to take advantage of his affinity for contact. Also do not be surprised if he gets a look at running back because he is big and hard to bring down by just one tackler. His versatility will most likely make him a star early in his career.
