Scouting Report on George Uko

How we scouted: Film footage, In-person visits, Camp settingby Barry Every - 08/17/2009
  • SpeedDivision I Player
  • SizeBlue Chip
  • StrengthBlue Chip
  • AgilityDivision I Player
  • Lateral PursuitDivision I Player
On the Hoof: Has the upper body of an offensive lineman - barrel-chested with a slightly soft midsection. His lower body is that of an athletic defensive end - long and well-defined. Overall, he is one huge human being that most likely will play at 300 pounds.
Needs Improvement: Needs to reshape some of his upper body weight, which should improve quickness and add strength. Uko will also need to work on technique and not rely solely on size and quickness to win one-on-one battles.
Most Impressive: Uko is very nimble on his feet for a giant and is extremely quick of the snap of the ball. He is also very coachable and willing to listen and learn.
Conclusion: This is a player that has not even come close to maximizing his abilities. Right now, he is very raw and at the very beginning of his learning curve. His size and natural ability may get him on the field early, but in a few years expect him to become a monster.

It's easy to say head coaches are the reason why a team has a successful recruiting class. Yet any college football connoisseur knows the backbone is the assistant coach who spends countless hours making calls, in-home visits and wooing top recruits. Will Muschamp was one of the guys that got it done in the Big 12 this year. Rivals.com goes deeper to name our top 10 recruiters in each conference.
