STORRS, Conn. (AP)—Maya Moore scored 17 of her 19 points in the first half to help top-ranked Connecticut rout The College of Saint Rose 85-44 on Thursday night.
Moore, the national player of the year as a sophomore last season, also had seven rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocks.
Tina Charles added 14 points and 11 rebounds, freshman Kelly Faris had 14 points, and sophomore Caroline Doty added 11.
Ashley Rath scored 13 points and Ola Shajuyiabe had 12 for Saint Rose, a Division II school in Albany, N.Y.
UConn went on a 17-3 run midway through the first half to build a 31-13 lead. Moore scored seven straight points in an 11-0 run late in the half and UConn led 53-23 at the break.
