The ultimate goal is to reach Boise State's level, but Utah State would be far more realistic in looking at the recent revival of the season's final opponent: Idaho.

The Vandals, under third-year head coach Robb Akey, are 7-4. That's coming off a total of three wins in Akey's first two seasons. USU, with first-year head coach Gary Andersen, is chasing a fourth win this year (3-8). It would mark the first time since 2002 that's happened.

"They have had a very good year. I am happy to see Robb having the success he has been able to have.Especially after the first two years," said Andersen, who was an assistant coach with Akey at Northern Arizona back in the day (1995-96). "It was a big-time struggle for them.

Kellen Moore didn't need to throw his usual three touchdown passes. All the Boise State quarterback had to do was hand it off and watch Doug Martin and Jeremy Avery go. Martin ran for four touchdowns, Avery ran for two more and both topped 100 yards rushing to help the sixth-ranked Broncos remained unbeaten and in BCS contention with a 52-21 win over Utah State on Friday night.

Robert Turbin ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns to lead Utah State past San Jose State 24-9 Saturday. Turbin became the first running back to top 1,000 yards for a season since 2001 for the Aggies (3-7, 2-4 Western Athletic Conference). On a cold and snowy day, Utah State gained 381 yards on the ground and had only 50 yards passing.
