They say records can be thrown out in a rivalry game. Never has that been more true than on Saturday in Provo, Utah.

Brigham Young and Utah can discard their slates because both consist of 9-2 overall records and 6-1 marks in the Mountain West Conference as they resume their Deseret Duel. Both teams are ranked for just the third time ever in the series, but for the first time since 2005, neither team is in line for the conference championship.

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham started trying to downplay the hype immediately after his team's 38-7 victory over San Diego State last week.

"You anticipate it and you look forward to it," Whittingham told the Deseret Morning News.
