Syracuse Team Report Nov 30, 2009

Year one of Doug Marrone's rejuvenation project concluded with a messy 56-31 loss to Connecticut in a Big East Conference game before 40,000 at Rentschler Field.

Connecticut improves to 6-5 overall, 2-4 in the Big East and becomes bowl eligible for the third consecutive year under Randy Edsall, a former Syracuse player and assistant coach.

The Huskies tacked on two touchdowns in the last 47 seconds of the game to make the final score a little uglier, one on a 28-yard pass by Zach Frazer to Marcus Easley on fourth-and-11.

Defensive back Phillip Thomas, beaten on the play, called it a cheap shot. The other came on a 34-yard fumble return by Dwayne Gratz after Syracuse botched a hook-and-ladder play.

The Orange finished 4-8 overall and 1-6 in the Big East ...More
