Ryan Mallett went 23 of 27 for 329 yards to lead Arkansas to a 33-16 victory over South Carolina on Saturday. Mallett was 12 of 13 in the second half, and the Razorbacks scored 23 unanswered points to finish the game. South Carolina Team Report Nov 4, 2009

Quarterback Stephen Garcia has come a long way since last year.

The 6-2, 219-pound sophomore has thrown for 2,094 yards, including three 300-yard games. He's thrown 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.

But if South Carolina is ever going to contend for the SEC title, Garcia must take another big step forward.

Saddled with an subpar offensive line, Garcia has failed to use his running ability to avoid sacks. The Gamecocks have given up 24, most in the SEC.

"Most times Stephen just can't find anywhere to throw it," coach Steve Spurrier said. "So we're trying to coach him up a little better, and try to get him somewhere where he can throw the ball."

Garcia ranks 10th in the SEC in passing efficiency. ...More
