&lt;p&gt;The Aztecs have played well in spurts in the last four games, leading to three wins. Their 23-20 victory over New Mexico last week showed they can win when they don't play their best.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;San Diego State will not have that luxury against its next opponent. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Aztecs (4-4, 2-2 Mountain West Conference) entertain powerful TCU (8-0, 4-0) at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday in a game that will show the home team exactly how far they've come under first-year coach Brady Hoke.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Horned Frogs are the No. 6 team in the Bowl Championship Series standings, in line for a BCS invitation.&lt;/p&gt;
