The Scarlet Knights took a critical, unexpected body blow by losing last Saturday to Syracuse. That makes this an interesting weekend for Rutgers.

Greg Schaino's club had two losses entering the game against the Orange, but both were against top-10 teams, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Syracuse hadn't won a game in the Big East all year, but showed no fear and blitzed Tom Savage and the Rutgers’ offense until it collapsed into nothingness.

Louisville doesn't have a great defensive front, but not many thought that Syracuse could manhandle the Scarlet Knights either. The Cardinals also struggle to score and to stop its opponents in key spots, which explains why Steve Kragthorpe's crew now shares last place with the Orange.

Rutgers running back Kordell Young will miss the rest of the season with an injury to his right knee. The third-down specialist was hurt in the Scarlet Knights' 31-0 victory against South Florida last week and will require season-ending surgery. "Anybody who has been around him, you just hurt for the kid," coach Greg Schiano said Monday at his weekly news conference.

After listening to No. 23 South Florida talk about revenge all week, Rutgers sent its message on the field. Freshman quarterback Tom Savage threw for two touchdowns and Rutgers forced four turnovers, blocked a punt and recorded seven sacks in embarrassing the error-prone Bulls 31-0 on Thursday night in a nationally televised game.
