After making strides on defense last season after adding veteran assistant Bill Young as its coordinator, Oklahoma State stockpiled talent on that side of the ball with its 2010 recruiting class.
Of the 27 players the Cowboys signed, 14 were designated as defenders.
"We're looking for a lot of defensive backs-type skill players, corners, safeties, because we graduated a number of those guys," said OSU coach Mike Gundy. "Defensive line, I would say that most coaches would tell you, when you can get defensive linemen, you have to take them. It's hard to find big guys who can run."
