Coach Butch Davis established a reputation as a super recruiter in his time at Miami, bringing in classes that produced nine first-round picks in the 2001 and 2002 NFL drafts.
His fourth class at North Carolina, however, lacks the big splash that might have been expected this time around. Services rate the class no better than fourth or fifth best in the ACC.
But it wasn't a complete washout.
The Tar Heels did get a couple of offensive linemen in James Hurst from Plainfield, Ind., and T.J. Leifhelt of Wilmington, N.C., who have already enrolled and could help shore up an offensive line that was inconsistent at best in 2009.
