Kaepernick paces Nevada to 31-21 win over Hawaii

Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a pair of scores to lead Nevada to a 31-21 victory over Hawaii on Saturday. Vai Taua added 127 yards on the ground and caught a touchdown pass for Nevada (5-3, 4-0 WAC). Kaepernick passed for 184 yards and ran for 114 more for the nation's top running game, which gained 312 yards. ...More

Since opening the season a disappointing 0-3, Nevada has been on fire—winning five straight in convincing fashion to move atop the WAC standings and position itself for a shot at the conference title.

Or just about where most everyone expected the Wolf Pack to be when the season started. Nevada was picked to finish second in the league, behind perennial power Boise State, by both coaches and media.

The Wolf Pack has regained its footing behind its tremendous offense, which even when it plays poorly—as coach Chris Ault said it did after last week's victory against Hawaii—churns out more than 300 rushing yards and nearly 500 yards of total offense.
