Nevada's 'pistol' targets Boise St. for WAC title

In January 2005, coach Chris Ault told his assistants he was going to install a concoction he dubbed the "pistol." He wanted to dramatically alter Nevada's pass-happy, shotgun offense that had just produced a losing season. Ault is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Nevada Team Report Nov 25, 2009

Nevada is one win away from a conference championship. One that looked awfully unlikely when the Wolf Pack started the season 0-3, including a shutout loss to Notre Dame in the season opener.

But the Wolf Pack fine-tuned its rushing attack, improved its defense and has won eight straight games, including seven straight WAC games to set up a title game against Boise State on Friday night.

A Nevada win gives the Wolf Pack an outright league title. Boise State earns at least a share of the title with a win, but must defeated New Mexico State next week to win the outright title.

"We've had a grind this year. To start out 0-3 and work yourself up," Chris Ault said. "It's going to be a lot of fun playing for the championship."
