Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez approached this year's recruiting class as a supermarket sweep. He came in the front door and said he needed one of everything.

After a second straight disappointing season, Rodriguez had to approach his 2010 class with a sense of urgency, but also make his choices as precise and fitted to the program as possible. It had to be a scientific exercise, with the human element figuring in as a big factor.

What Michigan and Rodriguez ended up with was a group of 27 recruits that took the bulk of a somewhat chaotic signing day to assemble. The sting of a couple of 11th-hour defections was tempered by the late addition of Florida defensive back Demar Dorsey, rated a four-star player by both Scout.com and Rivals.com.
