Michigan coach Brady Hoke knew the honeymoon was over long ago, and the business-like approach throughout the Wolverines' spring practice sessions simply reinforced that notion.
After posting an impressive 11-2 mark in his first season as Michigan head coach, beating bitter rival Ohio State for the first time in ages, and claiming a BCS win over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl, Hoke used the spring of 2012 to start work on the encore.
The month of spring workouts took place with the specter of a 2012 season-opening matchup against defending national champion Alabama looming off in the distance.
