&nbsp;&nbsp; A fall that began with expectations for another bowl game now draws to a close with the only drama being whether Maryland is headed for the first 10-loss season in school history&mdash;and whether coach Ralph Friedgen can save his job.</p>
&nbsp;&nbsp; The latter wasn't an issue until November, because most assumed that the sheer costs involved in the decision would keep him safe. Freidgen has two years left on his contract at somewhere around $2 million per year, and if offensive coordinator/designated head coach in waiting James Franklin is shown the door as well, that's an extra million bucks down the toilet. With the economy sour, ticket sales down, and no bowl game to add revenue, that money would seem to be hard to come by.</p> &nbsp;&nbsp; Except that, apparently,...]]></description>
