Mark Mangino didn't go completely off the deep end when he removed quarterback Todd Reesing midway through the fourth quarter of a 42-21 loss at Texas Tech.

The Kansas coach said Reesing remains the Jayhawks starter as they prepare for Saturday's game at Kansas State.

"Of course," Mangino said.

The issue was raised because Mangino pulled the third-year starter with Kansas trailing by just 14 points. The senior is the same quarterback who has engineered some stirring comebacks and owns practically all the Kansas passing records.

Seven turnovers by Reesing in the last three games, all losses, prompted Mangino to insert Kale Pick, a freshman who had only played in mop-up roles and has been most effective as a rusher for the Jayhawks (5-3, 1-3 Big 12).
