Talk about a tough day for the Hawkeyes. Iowa lost its quarterback, its unbeaten season and likely any shot to play for the national title in Saturday's 17-10 defeat to Northwestern. Next up is a trip to Columbus to face No. 10 Ohio State, which knocked off Penn State in Happy Valley to pull into a tie with the 15th-ranked Hawkeyes for first place in the Big Ten.

Kirk Ferentz heard his Hawkeyes were on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week and thought it was a joke. Then he cringed.

In baseball parlance, Iowa keeps hitting home runs in the bottom of the ninth.

The latest victory, against Indiana after quarterback Ricky Stanzi had thrown five interceptions, is just further proof.

Forest Evashevski, the former Michigan football star coached Iowa to two Rose Bowl victories in the 1950s, has died. He was 91.
