Iowa is in danger of being remembered more for its finish than its fantastic start. The 15th-ranked Hawkeyes have dropped two straight after opening 9-0 for the first time, and last week's 27-24 overtime loss at Ohio State crushed their hopes of a trip to the Rose Bowl. The Hawkeyes don't have long to feel sorry for themselves following their loss to Ohio State. Minnesota is coming to Kinnick Stadium, and the Gophers would like nothing better than to give one more kick while the Hawkeyes are down.
Iowa blasted Minnesota last year, 55-0, in the Gophers' final game in the Metrodome. That certainly won't be forgotten this year.
"It was one of those games, totally an aberration," coach Kirk Ferentz said. "I'm still not sure how it happened. I wasn't sure how it happened that night. We were playing well and things just started rolling. I sure didn't see that coming."
Iowa isn't likely to score seven touchdowns again vs. the Gophers, as it did in the blowout last year. ...More |
