Some coaches probably would have taken the easy way out, just settled for the chip-shot field goal and took another shot in the second overtime. Not Paul Johnson. The Georgia Tech coach doesn't mind putting it all on the line, even at the risk of costing his team a shot at the Atlantic Coast Conference championship.

Josh Nesbitt had already fumbled on one fourth-down play, gotten tripped up on another. He'd also been stuffed trying to run for a first down, and had yet another all-or-nothing play ruined by a dropped pass. Yet there he was in overtime, standing on the sideline with coach Paul Johnson, insisting he could get the 18 inches or so Georgia Tech needed to keep alive its Atlantic Coast Conference...

With Wake Forest coming to Bobby Dodd Stadium Saturday, the Yellow Jackets are about to play their 10th straight week. Georgia Tech won't hit its bye week until after visiting Duke on Nov. 14.

It's a strange time to get a break, with one game remaining. And it may be taking a toll on the No. 10 Yellow Jackets.

"It's a concern," coach Paul Johnson said Tuesday. "Any time you play 11 straight games, it's going to be tough. We're working on our 10th game this week without a break, and we have a lot of guys that are banged up and beat up. So, it's definitely a concern. We met this morning, and we're trying to piece together two units on the offensive line for practice.

Georgia Tech is probably a little too far back to become a factor in the national championship race.
Turns out Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson has a few more tricks in his offense than just the triple option. Josh Nesbitt ran for two touchdowns and threw for two scores, Jonathan Dwyer ran for a career-high 186 yards rushing with three TDs, and No. 11 Georgia Tech rallied to beat Vanderbilt 56-31 Saturday night.

Bobby Johnson may know more about Paul Johnson's spread option offense than any other head coach in the nation. That could be bad news for Paul Johnson and No. 11 Georgia Tech -- but only if Bobby Johnson has enough time to pass his knowledge to his Vanderbilt players.
Georgia Tech is making a run at the ACC championship by holding the ball longer than any team in the nation.
