Georgia expects a breather in its homecoming game Saturday against Tennessee Tech.

But nothing has come easy for the Bulldogs this season.

Georgia will be without star sophomore receiver and top offensive threat A.J. Green for its matchup against the Golden Eagles due to a pulmonary contusion. Georgia coach Mark Richt said he expects Green to be back in time for the following week against Auburn.

"We're not 100 percent certain, but the history of this type of an injury by the second week everybody has played to this point," Richt said. "So we don't have any reason to think that he won't."

Richt quelled another controversy this week when he announced senior quarterback Joe Cox will start Saturday.

A most unlikely person came to the defense of Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, who was suspended for half a game for apparently trying to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey Ealey said Tuesday he doesn't believe Spikes should have been suspended. In fact, Ealey seemed surprised the play from Saturday's game drew so much attention.

Georgia coach Mark Richt isn't saying if he plans to bench quarterback Joe Cox. Cox was yanked from a 41-17 loss to top-ranked Florida after throwing three interceptions, and Richt declined to say Sunday night if the move is permanent. Sophomore Logan Gray also struggled, throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
