      <description>Tommy Davis returned the opening kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown, and Chad Spann ran for a career-high 174 yards and two scores to help Northern Illinois rout winless Eastern Michigan 50-6 on Thursday night. The Huskies (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American) won their third straight games, scoring on five straight possessions to take a 37-6 halftime lead.</description>

&lt;p&gt;After the pounding the Eagles took in the loss at Arkansas, maybe a quick turnaround will be beneficial. The schedule calls for Eastern Michigan to come back from that long trip, arrive home in the wee hours of Sunday morning, and then get back on a plane or load onto buses three days later for the trip west of Chicago to face Northern Illinois in a rare Thursday night game.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The eight consecutive losses have this team worn down, so a few less days of practice can't be all that detrimental. The abbreviated break from game action allows for less time to plan and develop schemes, but that does not appear to be the place where the Eagles have come up short on game days.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;On numerous occasions, the energy, the focus, and the passion have been less than what will be required...</description>
