   It's simple math, really.

   Eight wins is better than seven wins.

   That's really all Boston College has on the line this week as the Eagles head down to play Maryland in the final regular-season game.

   Eight wins is, or are, better than seven.

   Other than that, and not wanting to take a two-game losing streak into what appears to be the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco, there just isn't much on the line for BC as it faces this 2-9 team.

   Oh, there might be the desire to rinse out the taste of that dreadful offensive performance in last week's 31-13 home loss to North Carolina, the one that cost BC its perfect home season.
