Auburn players and coaches are vowing that Saturday's Homecoming game against Furman will be taken with as much seriousness as any of their previous nine games.

"I go back to us preparing like we do every week and really putting our blinders on and focusing on the opponent," coach Gene Chizik said.

"It doesn't matter who it is. It doesn't matter where we are playing. We have got to prepare the way we always have and if we do that, we have a chance to win."

The chances are significantly increased anytime you play against an FCS school, but Auburn players still have a bitter taste in their mouths after last year's way-too-close, 37-21 victory over UT-Martin.

"We're going to keep our same focus," linebacker Josh Bynes.

It only took Auburn two plays and 12 seconds to grab the momentum, then No. 24 Mississippi snatched it back with a couple of huge runs. The Tigers weathered that wild third-quarter swing and rode a resurgent offense to a 33-20 win over the Rebels on Saturday, ending a three-game losing streak and adding to a disappointing season for Ole Miss.

Auburn safety Zac Etheridge was carried off the field on a backboard after a collision with teammate Antonio Coleman in the first quarter against Mississippi.
Gus Malzahn has more important things on his mind than a reunion with his former boss Houston Nutt. The Auburn offensive coordinator is concerned with getting the Tigers' offense going, fixing the passing game and finding ways to score enough points to beat No. 24 Mississippi on Saturday. Malzahn was Nutt's offensive coordinator at Arkansas in 2006, making the leap from the high school ranks...

The Auburn Tigers insist it's not the same. Sure, the Tigers' offense is struggling, the quarterback play is getting criticized and the team is under heavy fire for its play after a strong start. Just like last year. The difference, the players say, is the team is not divided after following a 5-0 start with three consecutive losses.
