The Razorbacks are one of the hottest teams in the SEC, winners of four straight heading into their regular-season finale.

But those four games were at home, and against some lesser competition than the LSU team that Arkansas will meet in Baton Rouge this weekend.

The Tigers sit at 8-3 after a narrow loss at Ole Miss and are looking for a bounce-back victory at home before bowl bids are awarded.

That means the Razorbacks have to be playing their best against LSU, which has been ranked in the nation's top 10 for most of the season.

"I know our players are excited to go down there and play against them," said Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino.

"We feel like we can play with them.

Arkansas beats Mississippi State 42-21 (AP)

Ryan Mallett threw for 313 yards and five touchdowns to lead Arkansas over Mississippi State 42-21 on Saturday. Mallett's final touchdown pass was his 28th of the season, a school record. Clint Stoerner held the old mark of 26. Anthony Dixon rushed for 176 yards for Mississippi State, which was eliminated from bowl contention.

Arkansas RB Smith out for season (AP)

Arkansas running back Michael Smith is out for the season with a hamstring injury. Smith was the Razorbacks' leading rusher heading into Saturday's game against Mississippi State. The school said before the game he will miss the rest of the season. Smith has fought injuries all year. He missed two of Arkansas' first 10 games, although he was able to play last weekend against Troy.

Ryan Mallett broke Arkansas' single-season passing record, and the Razorbacks beat Troy 56-20 Saturday night. Mallett threw for 405 yards, bringing his season total to 2,882. He surpassed Clint Stoerner's mark of 2,629 in the second quarter. Arkansas (6-4) has won three straight games for the first time under coach Bobby Petrino, who took over before last season.
