The Arizona Wildcats dispatched woeful Washington State with ease. Now comes the hard part for the No. 21 Wildcats. Travis Cobb returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to set the tone for Arizona in a 48-7 rout of the Cougars on Saturday. Arizona's most recent game allowed the defense to "finally get its swagger back," according to free safety Cam Nelson.
The Wildcats are coming off their second bye week of the season, which was important in the effort to try to get some key players healthy, notably running back Nic Grigsby and defensive end Brooks Reed.
Arizona carried a good feeling through the week, as it was coming off a 27-13 home win over UCLA and savoring the program's first appearance in the national polls in nine years. While idle, Arizona moved up from No. 24 to No. 19 in the coaches poll, and from No. 23 to No. 21 in the Associated Press poll. "I think we're earning more and more respect," coach Mike Stoops said.
