Scouting Report on Tony Jefferson

On the Hoof: Similar in size to Corey Nelson, Jefferson is built more like a thick safety than a college linebacker at this time. He has an excellent frame to add size on and should remind people of a former Clemson star and seven-year NFL veteran Anthony Simmons.
Needs Improvement: As an outside linebacker, he will need to add 20 to 25 pounds for taking on blockers in run support. If he is switched to safety, he will need to get more experience with coming out of his backpedal and breaking on the ball.
Most Impressive: Has tremendous football speed and may be the second-best form tackler in this class behind only Jeff Luc. Also Jefferson has the dimension of possessing ball skills, which makes him doubly dangerous as a threat to turn the tides of a game on one play.
Conclusion: Jefferson is a very versatile athlete that should play a major role as a special teams' demon. Has the potential to play either safety or outside linebacker and a lot of that will be determined by the depth chart and his ability to find which position he will excel at in college.
