Scouting Report on Marquis Flowers

How we scouted: Film footage, In-person visits, Game setting, Campby Barry Every - 08/26/2009
  • SpeedBlue Chip
  • SizeBlue Chip
  • StrengthDivision I Player
  • AgilityBlue Chip
  • Ball SkillsDivision I Player
On the Hoof: Has excellent height, wide shoulders and long limbs. His frame has the potential to reach 225 pounds and possibly become an outside linebacker. He is built similar to fellow Rivals100 prospect Eric Reid.
Needs Improvement: Needs to work on staying low and keeping his feet under him while in his backpedal. Flowers also needs to be more consistent with watching the ball into his hands if he is to develop into a game-changing safety.
Most Impressive: He is not afraid to come up in run support and make the tackle. Flowers is very rangy and can cover a lot of ground using his tremendous speed. Versatility is also an asset because he could play either safety position or outside linebacker.
Conclusion: If Flowers is focused, he can make an impact as a freshman because of his superior size and speed. The fact that he loves contact will almost guarantee he will be on all coverage teams early in his career.
