Scouting Report on James Hurst

How we scouted: Film footage, Camp settingby Barry Every - 08/13/2009
  • SpeedDivision I Player
  • SizeBlue Chip
  • StrengthBlue Chip
  • AgilityDivision I Player
  • Foot QuicknessDivision I Player
On the Hoof: Has wide shoulders and long arms on a well-proportioned frame that can hold at least another 20 pounds.
Needs Improvement: Needs to work on getting into is pass set quicker and moving his feet after contact.
Most Impressive: He is one of the toughest and meanest linemen in the country. He thinks nothing of using his hands as battering rams and smashing any spot on the opponent's body.
Conclusion: North Carolina has been known for producing defensive lineman and this may be the most high-profile offensive lineman it has signed in 20 years. Linemen take longer to develop, but expect to see Hurst with meaningful playing time by his second fall.
