COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Tre Lamb rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another as Tennessee Tech won its first Ohio Valley Conference championship since 1975 with a 49-7 rout of Austin Peay on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (7-3, 6-2) finished in a three-way tie atop the conference with Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State, but beat both teams head-to-head to receive the OVC’s automatic berth to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Dontay Gay rushed for 192 yards to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark and his 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave him Tennessee Tech’s record for single-season rushing scores with 15.

The Golden Eagles had three first-half fumbles en route to a 14-7 halftime lead, then scored four TDs in the third quarter.

Lamb scored on runs of 1, 12 and 3 yards and threw a 61-yard TD pass to Cody Matthews.

Ryan White rushed for 140 yards for the Governors (3-8, 2-6).
