Massachusetts rallies to beat James Madison 21-14Saturday, Oct 30, 2010
AMHERST, Mass. (AP)—Jonathan Hernandez carried 28 times for 137 yards and Kyle Havens threw two touchdown passes as Massachusetts beat James Madison 21-14 on Saturday after trailing 14-3 at halftime.
Two first downs by Hernandez started the Minutemen (5-3, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) on a 14-play, 69-yard third-quarter drive that led to a 25-yard Caleb Violette field goal.
After the Dukes (4-4, 1-4) punted, Anthony Nelson’s 53-yard return put Massachusetts at the James Madison 17, leading to Havens’ 2-yard TD pass to Julian Talley. A 2-point conversion pass to Dan Sheeran tied it.
The Minutemen forced another punt and started their next drive at the Dukes’ 48. Four carries by Hernandez gained 42 yards before Havens, who was 15 of 19 for 163 yards, found Andrew Krevis for a 1-yard score and the lead.
The Dukes’ Drew Dudzik was 13 of 25 for 179 yards and ran 12 times for 98 yards.
