Field goal at finish lifts Fresno State, 30-28

FRESNO, Calif. (AP)—Kevin Goessling’s 35-yard field goal on the game’s final play lifted Fresno State to a 30-28 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday.

Ryan Colburn completed just 17 of 42 passes for 182 yards but marched Fresno State (7-4, 6-2 Western Athletic Conference) 68 yards in the final 2 minutes, 21 seconds to set up Goessling’s winning kick.

Ross Jenkins threw four touchdown passes and Daniel Porter rushed for 137 yards for Louisiana Tech (3-8, 2-5).

Colburn completed 4 of 8 passes on Fresno State’s winning drive, including a 19-yard toss to Chastin West on fourth-and-10 from the Louisiana Tech 46. A 9-yard completion to Jamel Hamler then moved Fresno into field-goal range.

Robbie Rouse rushed for 75 yards for Fresno State in relief of the injured Ryan Mathews, sidelined with the concussion that knocked him out of last week’s game against Nevada.
