MIAMI (AP)—Wayne Younger scored on a 23-yard run with 5:08 left, capping 21 unanswered points by Florida International in a 35-28 win over North Texas on Saturday night.
The Panthers (3-7, 3-4 Sun Belt Conference) used an interception, a blocked punt and a Mean Green fumble to overcome a 28-14 halftime deficit.
Florida International’s Paul McCall tied the game at 28 on a 3-yard touchdown pass to T.Y. Hilton with 8:57 left.
The Panthers, who finished with just 258 yards of offense, rushed for 173 yards and were led by Kendall Berry with 82 yards on 14 carries.
The Mean Green (2-8, 2-5) had a chance to at least tie the game on their final drive, but turned the ball over on downs on the Florida International 9-yard line with 1:50 remaining.
North Texas’s Riley Dodge was 28 of 36 for 314 yards, an interception and a touchdown, and also rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown.
