Florida Atlantic defeats Arkansas State 35-18

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP)—Jeff Van Camp threw three touchdown passes to lead Florida Atlantic over Arkansas State 35-18 on Saturday.

Alfred Morris rushed for two scores and caught a touchdown pass for the Owls (3-6, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference), who won their first home game of the season.

Van Camp was 18-for-27 for 242 yards in his second start at quarterback this season, replacing the injured Rusty Smith. Morris ran for 117 yards, his fourth 100-yard game of the year.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Aplin, making his first start at quarterback, was 20-for-27 for 168 yards and one touchdown for Arkansas State (2-7, 1-4), which lost its third straight game and seventh of its past eight.

Florida Atlantic took a 14-9 lead on Morris’s 7-yard run in the third.

The Red Wolves took their only lead at 9-7 after a 17-play, 92-yard drive was capped by a 22-yard field goal by Josh Arauco.
