SAN DIEGO (AP)—Michael Blanchard rushed for 102 yards on 10 carries and threw for another 78 yards to help Davidson snap a three-game losing streak and beat San Diego 34-27 on Saturday.

Blanchard replaced Matt Heavner at quarterback in the second quarter with the Wildcats (3-6, 3-4 Pioneer) trailing 17-14. He led two scoring drives with rushes of 22 and 35 yards that put Davidson ahead for good.

JT Rogan scored his second TD with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter to bring the Toreros within 34-27, but the comeback fell short when freshman Bo Stompro threw four straight incomplete passes from the Davidson 31 to end San Diego’s final possession.

Justin Williams and Kenny Mantuo each ran for a touchdown as Davidson amassed 282 rushing yards and won on the road for the first time this season while snapping a five-game losing skid to San Diego.

Peter Kidwell returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown to put Davidson up 7-0 with 10:04 left in the first. Offensive lineman Joe Tabler recovered a fumble in the end zone for another Davidson score that pushed the lead to 34-20 with 7:23 to go.

Stompro went 10-for-28 with one interception and threw a 42-yard TD pass to Kyle Warren as the Toreros lost their fourth straight.
