AUBURN, Ala. (AP)—Chris Todd threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns, completing his first 14 passes, as Auburn cruised to an easy 63-31 win over Furman on Saturday.

Todd threw three touchdown passes to Darvin Adams for the Tigers (7-3), who scored on six of their first seven possessions to jump out to a 42-3 halftime lead. Todd’s other scoring pass went to Mario Fannin, who finished with 60 yards rushing.

The Paladins (4-5), a Football Championship Subdivision team, scored 28 points in the second half against Auburn, which played most of its reserves during the half.

The Tigers, who won their second in a row, started the season 5-0 and then suffered three losses before rebounding with a win over Ole Miss last week.

Adams caught six passes for 115 yards for Auburn. Anthony Gulley rushed for 77 yards and Ben Tate added 75 yards rushing for the Tigers, who also totaled 282 yards on the ground.

Tate has rushed for 1,142 yards this season and is 13th on Auburn’s single-season rushing chart.

Jerry Williams rushed for 35 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Paladins and also caught four passes for 42 yards.

After a 23-yard Matthew Cesari field goal for Furman, Auburn stretched its lead to 14-3 on a 9-yard run by Tate after an 80-yard drive.

On Auburn’s next possession, Todd completed a 24-yard scoring pass to Fannin. Adams caught scoring passes of 23 and 41 yards on Auburn’s first two possessions of the second quarter and Tate had a 5-yard scoring run with 41 seconds to play before halftime.

The Paladins were able to make the game interesting in the second half as Auburn emptied its bench. Furman’s first touchdown came on a 6-yard run by Williams after an Auburn fumble deep in its own territory. Tersoo Uhaa had a 19-yard scoring run for the Paladins on their next possession.

Gulley scored his first two career touchdowns for the Tigers in the fourth quarter on runs of 13 and 50 yards. Gulley is normally a wide receiver but saw time at running back and defensive back in the blowout.

The outmatched Paladins did not give up and continued to play hard in the final seconds, scoring on 17-yard pass from Chris Forcier to R.J. Webb with 21 seconds to play.

The win assures Auburn, which became bowl eligible last week, of a winning season.

Hey Frank, now you wanna talk history huh, How many times did Bama beat Auburn, what 11 times in a row at one point, thats one less than our 12 nt's. Fear the thumb, here's one to fear, the one finger we will be holding in the air at the end of the year which signifies that we will be number 1 (again) Fear the thumb, LMFAO, that was a good Blubberville saying. Fear 36-0, fear, fear, fear! I was not knocking the Furman team being scheduled, I was questioning how the hell you give up 31 points!

Hey trainmaster and Dennis, I guess ya'll have forgotten fear the thumb plus 1 or was it 2 more. Anyway 6 or seven years in a row we kicked the elephants big butt Every team plays whover they can get to fill spots on the schedule. AU is a team without loads of returners so I think we have had a great season
except for the Kentucky game. Enjoy all this talk you elephant tide lovers for now. You got a lucky call
on the interception that was ruled not.

Post 15- Wow! Ole Miss shut us down? WTF? Don't know what game you watched. UT did in fact give us a fit, but alas, I must point out how selective you are being. Remember Arkansas, Kentucky and LSU? Of course not. Those teams smacked Auburn, Bama smacked all those teams. So please, please let's not compare and just wait and see what happens last game of the year. Who gives a crap if Auburn emptied the bench, its pretty pathetic that the second and third teamers give up that many points to an FBS school. We played our second, third teamers against some cupcakes this year but sure as hell didnt give up 31 points!!

LMAO redneck bammer trailer trash has invaded the AU space. It was 42-3 at the half and we emptied the bench. You rednecks wouldn't know about that because Nick da D*ck leaves your starters in to run up the score...or because you have to...Ole Miss shut you people down remember? AU also smacked Tennessee around at Knoxville and your team should have lost to them at home.

We have a bye week before playing your overrated team at home, at night. You may win, but you will have your hands full and an AU win wouldn't surprise me at all. Now feck off bandwagon rednecks.

Post 13, Furman is not an Ivy League school, where did you come up with that? Furman plays in the FBS Big South or something like that, in a conference with the likes of Chattanooga. No Furman hater but they are no Ivy League school, sorry. But your Furman team did post 31 points on an SEC team, though a second rate SEC, no small feat for a FBS school.

Post 12- sorry I dont know any people such as though you described, but yes I am an avid Tide fan, which makes me an avid Tiger hater.

Furman is a great ivy leage school in greenville SC with a long history of football success! Being a Georgia Bulldog with parents who graduated from Furman, I was really rooting for an upset! I'm still proud that it wasnt a shut out, it is no small feat to keep up with an SEC team!
