COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP)—Freshman Nick Florence passed for a school-record 427 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth, helping Baylor defeat Missouri 40-32 on Saturday.

Kendall Wright set career highs with 10 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns as the Bears (4-5, 1-4) ended a 13-game Big 12 road losing streak and beat Missouri for the first time in eight tries in conference play. Baylor, worst in the conference against the run, rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit and held Missouri to 10 yards rushing on 25 carries.

Danario Alexander had a career-high 13 receptions for 214 yards and two scores for Missouri (5-4, 1-4), which has lost three straight at home for the first time since 2004. Alexander’s 84-yard reception in the second quarter, the last 65 yards after bouncing off a tackler, was the Tigers’ longest play of the season.

Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert passed for the second highest total in school history, going 30 for 51 for 468 yards and two touchdowns. But he was shut down along with the rest of the Missouri offense in the second half. The Tigers made it to the Baylor 16 in the final minute before running out of downs.

Baylor had been allowing 179.5 yards rushing per game, and the lowest opponent total before Saturday was Wake Forest’s 126 yards in the season opener.

Baylor averaged 8.5 points in its first four conference games and went without a first-half touchdown three straight games before embarrassing Missouri behind Florence, who began the year as the third-string quarterback and moved up due to injuries. Florence completed 11 of his first 12 passes and finished 32 for 43, and he broke the school record of 412 passing yards set by Blake Szymanski in 2007 against Rice.

Szymanski started one game after Robert Griffin was lost for the season with a knee injury in late September, and the senior was the backup Saturday after missing two games with a bruised shoulder.

Baylor had gone 26 games without a 300-yard passing game, let alone a 400-yard game. St. Louis Rams rookie offensive tackle Jason Smith, the second overall pick of the draft out of Baylor, took advantage of his team’s week off and watched from the sideline.

Baylor scored on its first two drives. The Bears took a 9-7 lead on their first offensive touchdown in 80 minutes and 4 seconds, Florence’s 8-yard keeper with 2:13 to go in the first quarter.

Gabbert had 322 yards passing in the first half with both touchdowns coming late to help Missouri take a 27-16 lead. The Tigers led 27-16 at the break after Wes Kemp’s 7-yard catch with 1 second to go.

Neither team had any success rushing. Baylor had 30 yards on 24 carries.

Everyone can see that pinkel has totally lost this team. He says every week it's his responsibility to get the team ready , but never does. It's like anybody's afraid to say get rid of pinkel. He can't coach worth a damn, he can't adjust to anything. Alden screwed up big time by resigning pinkel, but it's never too late. FIRE PINKEL., HE'S A FREAKING LOSER. HE'S 0-13 AGAINST OU AND UT SINCE TAKING OVER AT MIZZOU, AND NOW HE CAN'T EVEN BEAT BAYLOR. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO SEE HE'S A BIG FREAKING LOSER!!!!!! MIZZOU NEEDS A NEW COACH IF THEY'RE EVER GOING TO WIN. THERE I SAID IT. NOW CAN ANYONE FOLLOW THRU AND HIRE A GOOD COACH.

Where was the 2-back formation that worked so well against Colorado? Non-existent running games don't win many games. Defense never showed up. A freshman QB hanging 427 yards on us is rediculous. I'm embarassed. I'm not so sure that Missouri can win any more games this season after that performance. Anybody want my Blackout Game tix?

Pinkel's wheels have seriously come off. The whole "re-building year, we're playing lots of freshmen and sophs" doesn't hold water. It was a Baylor freshman that made fools of them. Pinkel just took a big pay raise and it wasn't for performance like this. It's time for Pinkel to go.

Too many of the Tigers' shortfalls are coaching issues. Fundamentals like tackling just suck. Arm tackles up around the shoulders are not going to get it done.

    Pinkel out.

I keep saying this over and over. Pinkel is not an aggressive coach. He is too conservative in his approach. Chase Daniel made Pinkel look good the last three years. Pinkel is a good recruiter, but a mediocre coach. He continually blows the big games and cannot get his team inspired to win against bad teams. He should have taken Gabbert out of the Nebraska game when Gabbert got hurt. Instead he left him in risking more injury. Dumb move. Why is it that Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska consistently put great teams together and win? Mizzou just seems to be inconsistent all the time. No way Mizzou should have lost the Baylor game? Just bad coaching.

Congrats, Bears- you just had the closest thing to a bowl game your team will ever see, now or in the future. Sorry, but 1 sucky team beating another sucky team just isn't that exciting. But take-heart- you'll always have basketball season.

    Yeah right......snicker.......

Lol the Baylor "Teddy" Bears hung 40 points, yes 40 points, on Missouri. This win means so much for us, especially a week before we play UT. Now people will actually go the the Texas/Baylor game. And Ill go out on a limb here and say that we have a slight chance at upsetting UT. I wouldnt be suprised if they blow us away, which will mostl ikely happen. All im saying is we have a little momentum and most important of all, some excitement and hope.

Good win for Baylor!! Students are definitely talkin about it here in waco!!!!!!! SIC 'EM!

I've been saying for years that pinkel couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. the guy is worthless, and yeah so is gettis-a real coach would have benched gettis years ago. pinkel can't adjust to anything, and his whole staff is just as bad. get rid of him and the a.d, and hire a real coach.

OK, we don't suck, but we do lack commitment. We have athletes, but this game plan was lame. C'mon, we have the players to exploit Baylor, but we didn't do it. That comes back to Pinkel. I lovel this guy, but his reaction time is lame. We are a bad 2nd half team. Don't we try to anticpate what teams are going to do? If we just listened to the game announcers, we would alter the game plan.

Who would have figued at the begining of the big 12 season that K-state would have the upper hand on winning the north. Is Snider that good or just walked in at the right time?

Mizzou's continuing reliance on a defensive strategy of 60 minutes of prevent defense pass coverage has been the weak link in this program since Pinkel arrived. How does a team with 6 players going pro NOT make a BCS Bowl game in 2008? Their prevent pass defense prevented that from happening.

There are many truths here regarding MIZZOU:
    1. Pinkels coaching ability is and always has been overrated.
    2. One of the worst secondary"s in the country.....Get rid of #19 Gettis (worthless)
    3. The team lacks the drive and "killer instinct" needed to be successful in Big 12.
    4. The best programs and coaches don't have these BIG drops in performance between years.
    5. They just don't keep up the pressure when they have the lead. They get complacent and satisfied with where they are.
    6. AND...always remember that attitude reflects leadership.

this is what happens when you lose so many players to the NFL. As much as most mizzou fans hate to admit, this is one of those years "in between" when the team kind of stinks. still the biggest disappointment today was the mizzou defensive line. i believe that my nephew, who's a junior in high school could run on those puds.

So, it's finally revealed. Pinkel isn't a great coach. He happen to have had some good players for a few years. No TD's in the second half, again. Guess after 27 first-half points you figure you don't need any more? Wrong! Pinkel has been one of the worst half-time adjustment coaches ever, or even during the game. Just because something is working doesn' t mean you don't do something different in the 2nd. half. Don't you think the competition is making adjustments? I dread games against KSU & KU if we can't do any better than this against a Big 12 south bottom feeder. Good-bye season....
