Return to OriginalWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP)—Steve Robinson scored on an 11-yard run in overtime as Hampton rallied to defeat Winston-Salem 16-13 on Saturday.
The Pirates (4-4) trailed 10-0 with 2:35 left in the third quarter, then forced overtime by scoring 10 unanswered points in the fourth. Isiah Thomas caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from David Legree, followed by Jordan Stovall’s 30-yard field goal.
The Rams (1-7) took a 13-10 lead in overtime when Landen Thayer kicked a career-best 46-yard field goal, but Hampton used the same running play over left end four times—twice by Robinson and twice by LaMarcus Coker—for the win.
Hampton finished with 263 yards rushing. Coker contributed 109 yards on 28 carries while Robinson had 101 yards on 14 attempts.
Jarrett Dunston was 12-for-16 for 190 yards for Winston-Salem, which won its first game of the season the previous week against Bethune-Cookman, 16-10.
